I found “If It Ain’t Got that Swing” to be an interesting read, beginning with young people getting together and learning how to dance in the days of couple dancing where dance steps needed to be learned and perfected enough to impress others enough to interact, leading to young romance. The dance sequences are well written enough it was almost painful feeling them experience it.As the story moves along, the backdrop moves forward, something I like to see in novels. The power of the Third Reich inches its way, steps in and later charges in to expose the tragedy of the times, when lives of people had no rights, and the simplistic dancing to music crossed the line of the laws of social engineering, so only the “right” people could socialize, and the “others” meaning Jewish people were not only excluded but in danger.
Overall, this is an entertaining read that begins with simplicity and ends with a visceral historic message that none of us should ever forget. Five Stars!

I really enjoyed this book. It has a fantastic story with characters that you become emotionally attached to. The author takes us to a time and place in history that few can understand and is told from a different point of view. I recommend this book!
I'm not normally a romance reader, but this story was all around good. An interesting take on Swing music and Nazi Germany. Now, waiting for part two to be written!
A wonderfully written short story with the historical information woven in nicely. The romance aspect does take time to build in the story, but once it takes off it really takes off! The beginning immediately draws the reader in--I don't say more than that for fear of spoilers!
I purchased this book because I loved the movie "Swing Kids". This era of history is of interest to me whether in fiction or non-fiction. I liked the characters of the story, because I felt they rang true. Waiting for part 2.

Mr. Lupo really created an exciting and believable story here. The details of swing dance and the tension of the rise of the Nazi regime are brought to life through the eyes of some unforgettable characters. I was hooked after only a few pages. A worth while read!
If It Ain't Got That Swing - Part 1, by Tarrin Lupo, turned out to be an excellent story! I really enjoyed all the Swing-era lexicon and history. This story provided a glimpse into what it might have been like to live in a Nazi family, as well as what it was like to be a Jew, in Hitler's Germany. Most stories I have read about that era in Germany focused on the perspective of the Jews. It was refreshing to have another perspective in this story. I also had never before learned about how Jazz and Swing music had been banned in Hitler's Germany. I like it when I get to learn something new in a story! I thoroughly enjoyed this story from start to finish! I can hardly wait for the next installment. I highly recommend this story to everyone! Bravo, Mr. Lupo! Bravo!
